The Developing Artist Collaboration’s (DAC) annual Dewey Sip & Shop is Delaware’s premiere weekend long community and holiday shopping event. We are on the board of this vital local arts development organization and will be showing a selection of her signature handmade jewelry there.

We will be joined by over 30 local artists and craftspeople exhibiting their art and handmade items at this great family friendly event. There will also be live music, a DIY area to create your own gifts, and complimentary beer (and hot cocoa for the kids).

We are participating in NYCJW (New York City Jewelry Week) by showing a Pop Up Earring Galore Exhibition. Earrings Galore, is an annual juried exhibition, exemplifying a rich and diverse array of earrings made by emerging and established studio jewelers. Each artist’s unique approach to the earring format will be represented in a cohesive grouping of earrings. The exhibition is intended to create more access for the public to see art jewelry, cultivate connections with the community and provide an opportunity for visitors to add new pieces to their jewelry collections.

Heidi Lowe Gallery is hosting Plan B Art Project, a traveling Contemporary jewelry exhibition, from October 8th through November 8th, 2022 at her space in Lewes, DE. There will be an opening reception on Saturday, October 8th, 5-7 pm. The curator of the exhibition, Shauna Blythe Burke, states that “Plan B” is an Art Statement to raise money for and awareness of Planned Parenthood and issues surrounding a person’s right to make choices about one’s own body.” Twenty-five percent of all artwork sales will be donated to Planned Parenthood.

The title of the show, Plan B, refers to a type of emergency birth control medication (aka the Morning After Pill) that can be taken to prevent pregnancy. We are offering a new fun class for adults and teens. Learn how to use the dry powder coating process to add a colorful metal finish to your jewelry pieces. You will design and create two pairs of earrings using wire and sheet metal. During this process, you will also learn how to score and bend wire, pierce and cut metal, use layers and cold connections to create your own unique designs.

In this fun class, kids will make their own unique group of charms that will reflect who they are and their interests. They learn a variety of skills, including soldering with a torch, to create their designs that will be put onto a necklace when they are finished.

Get your hands making and your creativity flowing in this in-depth 8-week jewelry making class!

8-week class, Thursdays 6-8:30 pm
September 15 - November 3, 2022

While making class projects, students will learn the fundamentals of working with metal and designing pieces to develop skills and begin to hone in on their own artistic voice. The projects will cover a frame stone setting and a hinged bracelet with a clasp. Techniques that will be taught include sawing, drilling, filing, forming, soldering, texturing, finishing and more. No experience is necessary. Registration closes Saturday, Sept. 10th.

Heidi Lowe Puts the Finishing Touches on Her New Jewelry Collection

Heidi Lowe debuts a new jewelry collection called Liana which has been a year in the making. She is hosting two local Trunk Shows, one at Gypsy Willow in Bethany and one at Heidi Lowe Gallery in Lewes. Heidi is excited to introduce this jewelry to the local community and to put it out into the world. The collection is comprised of everything from simple hoops to chunky chains. All the pieces are made from recycled 14kt gold and some designs are accented with sapphires or diamonds.

Learn how to use the dry powder coating process to add a colorful finish to your metal pieces. You will design and create a multi-layered landscape pendant using sheet metal. During this process, you will also learn to saw shapes, create stencils to apply powder in specific areas to create a unique design and then rivet the layers together to create depth.

Heidi Lowe has been working on Liana Collection, a new all-gold jewelry line inspired by the beauty and strength of liana vines. She is thrilled to introduce it to the local community at two Trunk Show events. The new iteration of the colorful juried exhibition, Earrings Galore, will be debuting in New York City during NYC Jewelry Week this November. The popular local events, the Dewey Beach Sip N’ Shop and HLG Druzy and Gemstone Trunk Show will be back in their full sparkly glory.
